Ordinary Chaos

We don't keep a lot of dinner items in our house because we are rarely at home for dinner time. So any day we are home its "what are going to have for dinner?" On a whim the other night we decided to go up one of the canyons near our house, light a campfire and have hot dogs and smores . The problem is this is not something you should be doing on a whim with 2 young children. So we grabbed some stuff we would need and headed out before it got too dark. The campsite was not too far off the road and I was worried the whole time about Kayleigh running off. She stayed close to me except when she wanted to follow the dumb dog who did not want to stay close. Anyway as soon as we got there Joel headed out to find firewood and left me with the kids and the dog for a good 20minutes or more. I was trying to unload wrangle Kayleigh , occupy the baby and keep the dog and Kayleigh out of the road. I ended up laying the baby in the back of the car with the short tailgate up.. a m...

Kayleigh is our never ending source of entertainment. There are too many funny things she does and says these days I couldn't keep track if I tried. So sometimes there are moments that I am able to capture on film. I always have my camera handy in the living room. The other day I gave Kayleigh her lunch and went to sit on the couch and talk to my mom on the phone for a minute. I hear Kayleigh yelling "get me down" get me down" which should have been the first clue. She normally says "get me out" Anyway I tell my Mom Kayleigh is done I have to get her. I walk into the kitchen and below is what I found. I say "WHAT are you doing!?" and she replies "I'm on a trapeze !" She is perfectly safe where she is so I grab the camera and while I'm turning it on I ask her "What do you mean, on a trapeze ?" She says "Like a clown, in circus" Crazy kid. On Kayleigh's birthday we opened a few presents then took her to lunch at Chipotle (when she sees it she says "it's quesadilla time!" it's too funny) and then to the zoo . She LOVES animals, lately she has been obsessed with crocodiles and alligators, she calls them all crocodiles though After the zoo we got pizza for dinner at Sweet Home Chicago then we took her to Build a Bear where she made "Hollie". She loves the bath! She would have played there for hours, we had a hard time getting her away from it When we finally got home at 10pm (we hate Tooele) we decided to let her eat cake, after all it was her birthday. She got soo excited, she had been singing "happy birtay, happy birtay" all week as much as she LOVES cake she still wanted to share with everyone I can't believe she is already 2!

EVERY time I try and get a good photo of the girls it goes something like this... Awwe kisses... but I cant see baby's face Put your finger down! Put your dress down! I cannot tell you how many photos I have of Kayleigh pointing at the camera, she always wants me to "turn it around Mommy" so she can see herself in the photo immediately after it's taken OK getting closer This is the toddler singing " itsy bitsy spider" to the baby to make her smile... This is mommy dropping the camera to catch the baby because the toddler is "all done" Oh well, maybe when they're older

I know I will say this a lot, I can not believe how fast she is growing! She will be 3 months in just over a week she has the biggest smiles and loves to coo squeal and "talk". Still growing like crazy she weighed in at 13lbs 3oz and 24 1/4" earlier in the week. She is a WONDERFUL sleeper she is up to 9 hours straight without waking at all during the night, she then nurses and goes right back to sleep for another 2-3 hours. I keep thinking 9 hours is too long but since she is still growing strong I am not about to mess with it. I believe I deserve it after waking with Kayleigh every 2-3 hours to nurse, every night, for 13 months until she was weened. She then woke 1-3 times a night for the next 6 months when she finally learned to put herself to sleep and then go BACK to sleep after waking in the night. I have to give Joel credit for having the patience to sleep train her at 19 months.

So just as I thought I really am not good at keeping an updated blog. I was never good at keeping a journal either except a year or two during high school when I wrote almost everyday. Those entries mostly stared with "I didn't go to school today...". Anyhow here are a few more recent photos. Kayleigh is in love with the outside world. I am already scared for this winter when we will be trapped indoors. While deciding if we are moving in the next few months or not, we are yet to purchase a swing set . We did however get a sandbox. The first night after having it Kayleigh woke up around 3 or 4 am (something she rarely does anymore) saying "sandbox, sandbox, Kayleigh play sandbox, sandcastle" then just muttered "sandbox" every few minutes for about an hour before drifting back to sleep. It was so cute even in the middle of the night when we were exhausted . Because we don't have a fence yet and Kayleigh likes to get out of the sandbox and run I...
