Ordinary Chaos

I know I will say this a lot, I can not believe how fast she is growing! She will be 3 months in just over a week she has the biggest smiles and loves to coo squeal and "talk". Still growing like crazy she weighed in at 13lbs 3oz and 24 1/4" earlier in the week. She is a WONDERFUL sleeper she is up to 9 hours straight without waking at all during the night, she then nurses and goes right back to sleep for another 2-3 hours. I keep thinking 9 hours is too long but since she is still growing strong I am not about to mess with it. I believe I deserve it after waking with Kayleigh every 2-3 hours to nurse, every night, for 13 months until she was weened. She then woke 1-3 times a night for the next 6 months when she finally learned to put herself to sleep and then go BACK to sleep after waking in the night. I have to give Joel credit for having the patience to sleep train her at 19 months.

So just as I thought I really am not good at keeping an updated blog. I was never good at keeping a journal either except a year or two during high school when I wrote almost everyday. Those entries mostly stared with "I didn't go to school today...". Anyhow here are a few more recent photos. Kayleigh is in love with the outside world. I am already scared for this winter when we will be trapped indoors. While deciding if we are moving in the next few months or not, we are yet to purchase a swing set . We did however get a sandbox. The first night after having it Kayleigh woke up around 3 or 4 am (something she rarely does anymore) saying "sandbox, sandbox, Kayleigh play sandbox, sandcastle" then just muttered "sandbox" every few minutes for about an hour before drifting back to sleep. Kayleigh is obsessed with the Easter Bunny. I had completely forgotten about taking the girls to see him/her/it until I was at the indoor play park at the mall. I got into a conversation with one of the other moms who mentioned they were going to go visit. So I decided I would take the girls down as there were only 3 more days until Easter. Kayleigh got so excited when she saw him she could barely stand in line. After she had her photo taken I told her it was time to go and she got a huge frown on her face, crossed her arms and closed her eyes really tight. Maybe she thought she had made herself invisible and would be able to sit there all day. Anyway she was reluctant to get down and as we were waiting for our photos to print she saw the next child sit on the bunny's lap. Kayleigh started yelling "EASTABUNNY HUG KISS HUG KISS" So we of course had to go back and give the bunny a kiss so she would not be heartbroken. ..and Grow and Grow. So far Laurelyn has gained 1/2lb and 1/2 inch per week in her 3 short weeks. This is amazing to us considering from the start Kayleigh has never gained an entire pound in a month. Kayleigh didn't even double her birth weight until her 18 month check up! However when you start out at 10lbs 6oz it takes a little longer to get there. So for all of you who have not yet heard we are now the proud parents to two beautiful daughters. Laurelyn Louise joined us on Thursday February 21, 2008 at 8:27am, weighing 8lbs 3oz and measuring 19 3/4" long. She was evicted at 38 weeks 6 days gestation via planned c-section. We were a little nervous how big she would be after Kayleigh came out 10lbs 6oz and 23" at just 36 weeks 0 days gestation. Being that this was a second c-section, recovery has been surprisingly easier than the first time around. Laurelyn spends most of the day sleeping, eating, and looking around in quiet contentment. I will start with a few recent photos and then try to throw a few less recent ones in here and there. This is my first photo post so I hope it works.. Of course I have to start with the girls. Kayleigh is such a proud big sister. Ok the hour just hit me so I will post this and then hopefully I will be back again to post more soon.

It seems like everyone has a blog these days, so I thought we should have one too. Everyone knows how horrible we are at keeping in touch so maybe this will be a place to pop in and check up on us. I can't promise it will stay super updated but I will try my best to post a few photos every few weeks. This being said I actually started this blog a little less than a year ago, made it halfway through the first post (which was never posted) and never came back. So we will try it again
